Wire Management & Conduit Basics (Topic 1) in Module 5 – Solar-PV-NABCEP-Associate (BG)

Wire Management & Conduit Basics

Good wire management improves safety, reliability, and maintainability. Poor wire management can create abrasion points, water intrusion paths, and troubleshooting headaches.

Common goals

  • Provide strain relief and avoid pulling on terminations
  • Protect conductors from abrasion and sharp edges
  • Support conductors to reduce movement from wind
  • Use appropriate raceways (conduit, wire management clips, cable trays)

Practical reminders

  • Keep conductors off roof surfaces where feasible.
  • Maintain bend radius and avoid kinks.
  • Separate and secure conductors so they don’t chafe over time.
